Let’s face it, the best jobs boil down to a handful of things — getting the chance to work with amazing people with inspirational leadership in a great culture that pushes you every day, while pursuing a vision that you are proud and passionate about. Our collective vision is simple and yet far-reaching: to aggregate and democratize satellite data to enable businesses, applications, and solutions that were never before possible; to better our world.
Our team consists of NASA award-winning developers, Earth observation scientists, big data and unicorn startup veterans who have worked at companies like Facebook, IBM, and Cisco and who come from five of the seven continents. Our leadership team includes the Chair of Canada’s first Space Accelerator for startups, an Earth observation/geospatial big data veteran who has scaled multiple companies through IPOs, a planetary robotics graduate from the International Space University, and a petabyte-scale data leader with patents in location AI and contextual analytics. We are Techstars ‘16 NYC and Google for Entrepreneurs alumni. We have a unique blend of space/satellite authorities and consumer application veterans. And we are just getting started. The sky is literally the limit here.
Culture is the personality of a company. At SkyWatch, our culture is incredibly important to us, and we practice it every day. We recognise we are changing our world and as a company we encourage innovation and courage in a no-fear/no-blame environment, and our values centre around simplicity, dependability and empathy.
Our mission and values sit proudly on the walls of our office which we collectively review regularly. We don’t just talk the talk, we walk our walk.
Every day, hundreds of trillions of pixels of our planet are captured from space and the number of sensors observing our planet is growing exponentially. With this explosion of data comes new applications across precision farming, construction planning, disaster relief operations, and retail revenue prediction (to name a few), and the demand for satellite imagery is growing accordingly. However, getting access to many of these catalogues is expensive, tedious and time-consuming and beyond the reach of the average developer.
Using our team's experience in building NASA-award winning software and big data services, we are building the EarthCache™ platform, a simple way to discover and access the world’s remote sensing data. We are making it easy for organizations and application developers to manage crops, predict the markets, monitor infrastructure, harness energy, track ships and planes, measure global warming, among other game-changing applications. We do the hard data work behind the scenes allowing developers to build these new applications that quite literally will change our world.
Sound exciting? You bet!
You’re smart - a problem-solver who thinks out-the-box. You empathize with those who can use what we’ve built and you want to help solve their problems.
You’re technically ‘savvy’ but can also describe technical things to non-technical people. You can tell a ten-year-old how an API works and not have them glaze over with boredom. Or a CEO. Or even your Granny!
You have a diverse background. Volunteer as a Big Sister? Founded a Meetup? Love to paint? Play or coach a sport? We love diversity and value how much it adds to our team.
You have a thirst for learning. We learn something every day. We find it intoxicating.
You have thoughtful and insightful opinions that you feel comfortable sharing. We have a culture that encourages sharing opinions. If everyone in a meeting always thinks the same way, we believe we have the wrong mix of people in that meeting.
You have the ability to give more than you take. We have an amazing team. We want you to make it even more amazing.
